A New Instrument

In summer 2026 a small group who say they disagree about politics launched Elections Simplified, a free site that uses AI to find public records and summarize them for voters in two sentences or fewer. It rejects claims without a working source, publishes its code, and refuses to endorse or predict. The episode explains how it works, how it compares with Ballotpedia, Vote411, Vote Smart and CalMatters, and what remains untested.

Still debated

How much of the content is reviewed by people is not published, the founders are unnamed, and no independent evaluation exists. The Stanford study tested a different tool, and the tool's issue tags are judgment calls.
